Top Reasons to Visit Armenia
For the traveler that has been everywhere, or the traveler that is up for an adventure, Armenia is a great distention. After a long awaited trip to the mother country in 2015, traveling to Armenia was an experience different to another place I've traveled to. The fruit is all home grown and fresh, and the people are all warm and welcoming, and genuinely want tourist to enjoy their experience in their country. From mountainside churches to roadside delicacies, Armenia offers something for everyone. Below are my top reasons why to travel to Armenia.
Churches
Armenia is rich in history and an extensive past. Once a large civilization is now a tiny landlocked country. It lies between Iran, Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan. Armenia is known as the “land of churches,” and has about 4,000 monasteries and churches. Even driving through the most remote mountain ranges, a church is can be found nestled between peaks. Armenia is an old church lovers paradise.
Extreme Mountain Views
Armenia has beautiful mountain views and landscapes. There is practically no place you can go in Armenia where you won't be greeted by breathtaking mountain views. One of the best place for extreme views is the Wings of Tatev tramway. The tramway hold the world record for the longest non-stop reversible aerial tramway.
The Service Opportunities
Armenia is a country ravished in poverty. After the earthquake in the 1980’s the country had a hard time getting back on their feet. The earthquake left hundreds displaced. There are many services that take people from the states and get them involved in building homes, like the Fuller Center for Housing. The Fuller Center for Housing takes people to Armenia for a chuck of time and work on building homes for families living in poverty. After the program is over months later the Fuller sends pictures to the volunteers of the family in there new home. There are also chances to volunteer at orphanages.
